America is one of the fattest countries of 2014. According to Fox News, Americans who make more than $90,000 are obese. People with an annual income of $36,000 or less are also considered obese. Overall, 31.8 percent of the population of the United States is obese. Obesity is abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health. Being obese is having a BMI (body mass index) of 30 or more. From billboards to magazine, food is all around us. Having an inactive lifestyle is the first step to becoming fat. Forget going to the gym early and stop going to the gym! Why waste hours at the gym when you can spend your time in front of your TV watching shows and playing videogames? On average, kids spend seven hours in front of the TV. When you are spending your time in front of the TV, make sure to take half of the food from your kitchen so you don’t have to get up every 5 seconds. Fast food restaurants have increased their portion sizes from 2 to 5. These sizes are bigger than what they used to be. Many food portions such as donuts and coffee in today’s society have increased. About 20 years ago, 5 cups of popcorn which had 270 calories have increased to a tub which has 630 calories. Studies indicate that when given food in larger containers, people will consume more. Americans are exposed to huge food portions everywhere including places such as restaurants, gas stations, movie theaters, supermarkets, and many more. Many meals and snacks can feed more people instead of one. Eating large portions means too much energy stored in your body. In one day, you would consume 1,595 more calories than if you had the same food portions served 20 years ago.
