Otto Frank Published It For All the Right Reasons “The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be.” - Anne Frank. Because Anne Frank was in hiding she couldn’t go outside making it clear that this quote means that she was depressed. Mr. Frank didn’t violate Anne’s privacy by publishing her diary being as it is a historical document, Mr. Frank had ownership after the diary, and she expressed in her diary how she would like it published. Frank was her only living family member so the diary is in his possession. “Intestate Succession Act… states that if a person dies intestate without a spouse or lineal descendants (meaning children, grandchildren, etc.), the person’s parents are entitled to take equal shares of the person’s estate.” So once Mr. Frank takes all her possessions and owns them he can do what ever he wants with them regardless if it’s “right” or not. Frank did violate Anne’s rights because it invaded her personal privacy. However, Anne had plans for the future, after the war was over to publish a book based on her diary. “…after the war I'd like to publish a book called The Secret Annex. It remains to be seen whether I'll succeed, but my diary can serve as the basis,” wrote. In conclusion, Anne’s diary is a historical document, it’s in Mr. Frank’s possession, and Anne wanted a novel to be published about The Secret Annex.
