FRONTLINE: The Secret History of ISIS

"Without those series of decisions, there would be no ISIS" (FRONTLINE), was stated by Richard Clarke. FRONTLINE presents the inside story of the creation of ISIS and explains how the United States failed to stop the formations and success of this terror group. "The Secret History of ISIS" not only speaks of the failures of the American government, but also speaks of the rise and development of how ISIS came to be. Both the administration of George W. Bush and Barrack Obama are documented, due to the fact that they were both in office during the beginning and peak of ISIS’s creation.

As we continue the course we are lectured on the topic of post-cold war world we notice a change within the spectrum of global politics especially on the topics of security threats, U.S. foreign policy, and democracy within in the Middle East. After being attacked by terrorists on September 11, 2001, “the U.S. declared war on terror, and subsequently invaded Afghanistan”, (Haupt 2016, T1L3, 9). During the Bush administration, Vice President, Dick Cheney, helped persuade Americans into believing that the United States needed to invade Afghanistan. “The post-cold-war world has also witnessed the proliferation of nuclear weapons”, (Haupt 2016, T1L3, 14). Iran’s nuclear program has become an international concern. The vice presidents main point was the presentation of the idea that within their borders they had, “weapons of mass destruction”, (Haupt 2016, T1L3, 11), that we needed to search for although none were found. In Iraq, there is, “a changing world order” (Haupt 2016, T1L3, 12), with the formation of odd alliances. Iran has been helping the Iraqi government to push back ISIS as security threats continue to rise. ISIS is a global and developed power who has made enemies with the United States, Russia, Iran, and many others. They rule through violence and fear and their power remains within the trust their Sunni followers have in them around the world. Years later,
