Abstract
This research is about the case of the outstanding faculty award. This case study discusses how the most outstanding faculty member of the year in Brigham Young University was been awarded. Also, the report clarifies about the problems faced by the committee while selecting the best candidate for the particular award. Furthermore, the report has also highlighted on the workable solutions for minimizing impartial and unbiased decisions.

It can be termed as stakeholder farming too. Each individual member of the selection committee had made their own individual decision regarding the outstanding faculty award. The committee member had shown their keen interests in pushing forward their own selections irrespective of the criteria formulated by them.
The next problem determined was that there was absence of decisive leadership. The group neglected their own ranking criteria. Beside that they undermined the complete details of the six members who were listed for the award. But the team must not develop over confidence in their decision making process. The decisions that a team makes should be open for criticism. In a team, every individual must focus on the problems and should maintain respect for other’s perception about the particular issue. They should develop a system for brainstorming to come up with several ideas for making better decisions. (Mentzer, 1999)
Conclusion
In case of making decisions in a team on certain matters, the thing that should be kept in consideration is respecting others viewpoints, recommendations, and suggestion. Teams must keep keen interest towards brainstorming factors to encourage new ideas and have better perspective to the issue. Focusing on one aspect only can’t lead to have made a successful decision.
