Continuing the trend of other retailers, Abercrombie & Fitch continues to close stores in response to changing consumer buying patterns. Over the past six years, Abercrombie & Fitch has shuttered 340 retail locations and plans call for 60 stores to close in 2016. Over-expansion has been a burden for the apparel retailer as it tries to get a handle on its 754 domestic, international and Hollister-brand stores.

Attempting to shore up declining sales, Abercrombie & Fitch is introducing a kinder and friendlier store atmosphere and scaling back its “sexualized marketing”, a strategy geared for teenage buyers.
