What do you think? Some brain scientists, called “neuroscientists”, are starting to think that humans are not the smartest animals. Scientists have found that animals with more “folds” in their brains, are usually smarter. Scientists have also found that dolphins have more “folds” in their brains that humans. Dolphins can also do a lot of things that most animals cannot do.
Imagine, a 22.5 feet long killer whale that weighs 12,000 pounds, slammed and dragged a person in the water who only weighed 125 pounds. The image is gruesome but that’s what happened to SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau. A respected 40 year old who fought hard to stay alive against the largest orca in captivity. Accordingly to witnesses Tili (short for Tilikium), the Orca went wild during the Dine with Shamu Show, then attacked and killed Dawn. The event shocked everyone because Orcas are usually very friendly but Dawn Brancheau was the third victim of Tilikium.
It is hard to say definitively which breed of dog is the most intelligent, but we can get an overall picture of which breeds generally seem to be intelligent and which ones tend to be a bit slower in the head. Dumb or smart, dogs make great companions, so don 't think too much of this! Australian Cattle Dogs are one of the smartest dog breeds out there. They are bred for herding cattle which means they have to be pretty organized and intelligent in order to be successful at it.
I think that SeaWorld is an amazing facility. I love the fact that they rescue sea creatures from their inevitable death. I love the fact that children love to come here. I love the fact that this place causes children to subconsciously learn something. I love to bring my kids here on the weekend to watch the shows that the trainers put on with the orcas.
Right now though people think that the human is much smarter than a dolphin even if they remember each other's names for years until they forget. This
An important trait to life that many people have is intelligence. It is an exceptionally significant feature that people use in life for either good or bad. Intelligence can be positive, bringing bigger paychecks, fame, and power. These positive aspects of intelligence sound good, but such shrewdness has its disadvantages. Some negative aspects of intellect are depression, difficulty making friends, and the lowering of self-esteem.
Rafael Trujillo, the autocratic dictator of the Dominican Republic during the middle of the twentieth century, leveraged his status in society to oppress the working class for his benefit. In the novel, In the Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez exhibits Trujillo exploiting the proletariat to gain wealth and power by creating a hegemony in which the working class knew that they were being oppressed, but did not do anything about it. Trujillo forced the people to idolize him in a narcissistic way, evoked fear in the working class, and used the secret police to give himself an upper edge over the proletariat. A country’s dictator will exploit their people to keep their position in power.
What do you think it means to be intelligent? Being intelligent means having self-awareness and understanding, using logic and critical thinking, and having the ability to learn. This is shown in the novel by Delia Owens, Where the Crawdads Sing, John Stienbecks novella, Of Mice and Men, and Richard Connell’s fictional short story, “The Most Dangerous Game”. In the book Where the Crawdads Sing, Kya uses her intelligence all throughout her life to survive on her own in the marsh.
The Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is one of the largest of the Cetaceans. They are fairly well known, even outside of the scientific community. They are identifiable by their dark grey dorsal color, white underbellies, very long pectoral flippers and by their habits of breaching and raising their tales above the water before diving. Their range expands tropical, temperate, and sub polar waters all around the world. They migrate in search of breading grounds and feeding grounds.
Seaparks changed forever in 1964, when the the largest captive animal ever was first put on display for the public to see (Killer Controversy). Capable of growing up to twenty eight feet long, with a six foot tall dorsalfin, and weighing up to 9,570 pounds, it is no wonder why the world knows this mammal as the killer whale ("KILLER WHALES (Orcinus Orca)). Being put on display flipped the image of the killer or orca whale from vishous and mean, to playful and brilliant. Little did people know, orcas don 't belong in captivity and that putting them there would turn the beautiful creature back into the vicious beast it was known as before. Thus proving, the containment of whales, for any motive, needs to come to an end, for the reasons that it 's not needed, there are not treated well, live shorter lifespans, and are in bad living conditions that pose multiple threats to their lives.
Territories border a specific species’ personal space, the Orinus orca is no stranger to this as any other living thing. What makes the whale’s reputation “killer” is its compliance to territories. Killer whales are innocent, but immature. Their actions prove them to be “killer” as witnesses say, but do they really think on the Orinus orca’s perception of the situations of violence they are involved in? Killer whale’s do what any other wild animal does, and when captive it is no surprise they would do the same.
Marine organisms are animals, plants, and other living things that live in the ocean. A Marine biologist is a scientist who studies marine organisms and studies the bodies, behavior, and the history of marine organisms. They also study how marine organisms interact with each other and their environment. I have chosen to research about Marine biology because I would like to learn about sea life, the ocean, and its surrounding environment. To start off, a Marine biologist might study coral, crabs, fish, microscopic marine organisms, sea stars, seaweed, squid, or whales.
You take a huge breath in your scuba mask. You dive into the water you, open your eyes. It’s all bright and colorful. You see multiple animals. There is some that are ugly but you see the most beautiful fish.
WHAT IS INTELLIGENCE? There has been many debates as well as
In my opinion, I believe that marine mammals should not be held in captivity for many reasons. To start, they are taking away the animals from their natural habitat. Secondly, captivity causes both major and minor health problems. Another significant reason is that the poor marine creatures do not have enough space to swim resulting in severe boredom and causing them to do harm to themselves Captivity causes many health problems for the innocent marine mammals. There was an incident when Six of Marineland 's seals were blinded, or got serious eye problems because of the unclean water.
