In the article, “Parental Behavioral Control and Knowledge in Early Adolescence,” authors Maria Bacikova-Sleskova, Jozef Benka, and Olga Orosova ascertain, “When parental control is intensive, some adolescents may feel over-controlled (Kakihara and TiltonWeaver 2009; Kakihara et al. 2010) and as a result may become more reluctant to disclose information to their parents; become more secretive about their whereabouts and activities and decrease parental knowledge,” (Bacikova-Sleskova et al. 2736). Possessiveness is a very common dysfunction in Shakespeare's play, and Anderson's book. Both moms are trying to control their daughters hoping that this treatment will make their lives easier. Lady Capulet was yearning for power; meanwhile, Mrs. Sordino wanted a trouble-free life with no stress. They become stuck in their difficulties, so while Juliet kills herself to be with the one she loves, Melinda decides to get help. So many studies around the world have shown facts about possessive family members that negatively affect their children's future. With the uncanny amount of information on this topic, no one chooses to change, and these problems are still very common in everyday life.
