Many different definitions can apply to what is exactly a good person. This is the same for defining a good parent. Being a parent comes with a lot of responsibilities and new experiences. Newcomers tend to get stressed by the daunting task of raising a child; as a result, the question of being a good parent pops up inside their minds. Parenthood, like other responsibilities, requires devotion and dedication. However, these are ones I find very important. Having affection and providing love, as well as providing a stable environment, and being a role model are fundamental for the “good parent”. Parents should have a foundation of love where they care for their own child(ren). A safe family atmosphere facilitates the process of integrating right habits into their child. The relationships within this environment provide examples in which the child can learn from. What the child learns corresponds to what is occurring within these interactions. The parent’s influences has the ability to counteract outside influence, either good or bad. Being in a poor environment can hinder this development and influence the type of person the child becomes in a negative way once they grow older.
