One point two billion people play video games world wide. Sixty-eight percent of American households play computer or video games. Surprisingly forty percent of all game players are women. Sixty-three percent of parents believe games are a positive part of their children’s lives. More than half of parents think video games are good or positive for their child. More than half! Crazy when it comes to video games and people say “oh video games are stupid” and those people who play video games are too, but really those people who say that they go home and play video games on their computer or on their phone. Usually what happens when a kid plays a violent game it means that the parents have ignored the rating and haven’t seen whatever is in the game. Lots of parents may use the rating game, but not on all the games they have. The rating system would be better if the parents actually used it, but they don’t. It states “ But does any of it actually matter if parents aren’t bothering to use the rating scale to guide their children’s play?” If parents don’t do anything with the rating system then it turns into nothing meaning it would be useless, but once parents decide to use it, it is effective. A lot of parents complain on how video games are not helping teens and that makers should fix that problem, but parents should step up and take responsibility for their kid and help them by being careful of how violent the game their kids play. The video game makers have already done their part of making ratings for specific ages.The ratings help to see how violent the game is and what ages kids should play it.
