Health and social care practitioners have a responsibility to safeguard individuals within their care. This includes working within policies and procedures, demonstrating a duty of care, practicing person-centred care, monitoring and observing individuals, reporting and recording any concerns, working in partnership with other professionals, maintaining confidentiality, and reporting any concerns or issues through whistleblowing. One example of working within policies and procedures is ensuring that all care plans are up to date and followed correctly. This includes administering medication at the correct times and in the correct doses, as well as following infection control protocols to prevent the spread of illness. Partnership working can be demonstrated by working closely with other professionals, such as doctors, nurses and social workers, to provide the best care possible for the individual. By communicating effectively and sharing information, practitioners can ensure that the individual receives a coordinated and comprehensive care.
