In health and social care settings, psychological theories can improve the understanding of relationships. However, there are various relationships in health and social care such as service users their families and friends, service users and care workers, between care workers and between service users. It is very important for care professionals to initiate a successful working relationship. According to Nolan, Moonie and Lavers (2005), when the health and social care professionals uses their communication skills when working with individuals, they develop very good relationship with their colleagues as well as the individuals that they work with.
