Policies and procedures are important when it comes to health and social care and is also one of the main things about making sure that individuals are safeguarded and that their wellbeing is protected, as well as making sure that health and safety is secure. In relation to the title policies and procedures have been put in place to make sure that everyone is safe and also that practitioners know their organisation policies and procedures.

The safeguarding policy is very important when it comes to keeping people protected and make sure that the right procedures are carried out if someone’s wellbeing has been compromised. All large companies/organisations like the NHS should have this policy in place, this will show that the organisation/company cares about health and safety understands how important it is which will help ensure the fact they care about their wellbeing. Some of the details that may be on the policy is things like exit points, fire exits, location of the fire extinguisher. This information is very important for every practitioner earn and gain should be a policy they learn as part of their training or something they should learn to ensure that their delivery of care is efficient. This means that all employees that work in a health and social care setting should know what responsibilities they have if there is an emergency. As practitioner it’s their duty to make sure that anyone under their care is protected and tis policy will help the practitioner that this happens. One example of a procedure that takes place to make sure that the policy is carried out and followed is by performing risk assessments on the health and social care setting which can help recognise if there are any health and safety risk that can cause harm. This relates to the title because it focuses on the fact that everyone should be protected from harm etc. no matter if their patient or practitioner, it also makes the fact that health and safety should be protected and the individuals wellbeing isn’t
