When working as a public safety officer it is important that you stay on top of your fitness and nutrition. Keeping your nutrition and fitness up to date well enable you to go further in the public safety work force and in everyday life. In PED-1163 we were able to learn the basics of fitness, nutrition, and how to work towards achieving your goals. Since PED I was able to expand my knowledge greatly and focus more on my physical health, nutrition, and mental health as well. In PED we focused on our 7 dimensions of wellness: physical, intellectual wellness, spiritual, social, emotional, environmental wellness, and occupational. I was going to achieve this by starting out by running and then walking to eventually achieve the full 30 minutes. Since then I have accomplished this and I am able to run for a full 3o minutes I achieved this by running for 5 minutes then walking for 2. It eventually built up my cardio to enable me to run for the full 30 minutes. Since now I am able to run for the full 30 minutes. my next goal is to be able to run for at least one hour without stopping. I am still working on pacing myself correctly as sometimes I tend to run faster at the beginning then have no energy in the end. This can often make it difficult to keep my mentality throughout the entire run. The biggest challenge for me when starting to run for 30 minutes was making myself motivated to keep going. Often, I would get discourage if I would see other people running faster then mean or for a longer. It was hard for me to keep going because I was embarrassed I was not at the same level as them.
