There are numerous benefits of placing interventions that will decrease chronic health issues and promote a healthier workplace and community. Based on an article written in AM J Public Health Journal, wellness programs are becoming more popular. It has been proven that organization experience lower expenses, lower absenteeism, better work performance from their employees, and lower health care costs. According to a study published in the AM J Public Health Journal wellness programs has increase camaraderie in the workplace, reduces workplace related stress, increases motivation and has improved the overall health within the community. When implementing wellness programs insufficient time is a key issue. Based on an article written by Int. J Health Policy Manage Journal, employers are not willing to allow large amount of work hours to be afforded to wellness programs and employees are not willing to spend after work hours at the office. To overcome these obstacles many employers are arranging programs that can be done during lunch hours and break time. One of the steps of establishing a wellness program is establishing a well-defined purpose. A wellness program without well-defined goals has the potential to not grab the interest of participants. According to Muitaba and Cavico wellness program are misinterpreted. Many people think of weight loss when considering wellness programs. Wellness programs are much more than just weight loss. Wellness programs can incorporate multiple goals. To overcome this obstacle organizations need to clearly communicate the goals of the program. This will also help to increase the interest of the program. Lastly, based on an article in the Reviews of Human Factors and Ergonomics Journal, funding is a major issue when establishing a wellness program.
