More recently, Mahdavi and Tensfeldt (2013) outline the possible classroom use of these strategies. Peer Mediated Learning activities are used about 3 times per week for 30 mins at a time. Students are paired (or grouped) and use materials at the instructional level of the lowest achiever. The higher achieving reader acts as the tutor first with each activity. Each activity is repeated so that the roles are reversed and each member gets practice as both tutor and tutee.Vocabulary Instruction is primarily achieved through oral language supplemented with word banks, pictures and repetition.
