November 15th, 2014 is the day that I set foot in the United States of America. I grew up in Saigon, the biggest city in Vietnam, before I moved to the U.S. Even I was a young child, I have kept education as my top priority because I know education is the only way to achieve my dream to be an engineer. I worked hard in school to get good grades, I spent a lot effort on learning English, Math, and Science. My family was a typical poor Vietnamese family, my parents worked very hard to afford my education. However, Vietnam is not a good place to change life by education. Corruption is everywhere, including academics. In school, corrupt teachers would often accept money from the family of wealthy students who happen to be part of, or connected to Communist families. …show more content…

Even in the job market, people who are rich, or come from a Communist family are more easily to get hired-meaning, no matter how hard I tried, I struggle to find a job because I was from a normal family. My world where I come from is not fair. However, it taught me to work as hard as I can to be able to survive. That’s the reason why coming to America is my dream. I have been here for almost one year, and it has been wonderful. Although my family are low-income, we’re struggling with financial problems, I have still had a lot new experiences. I’ve been to new places, met new people in my Chinese-Vietnamese community, participated in a lot of activities that I didn’t have chance to do when I lived in Vietnam.
