I have always considered myself to be a curious person and the internet allowed me to expand and intensify my interests. Ever since I had access to a computer I have found myself immersed in the wealth of information and the different ways I had to express myself. I was able to share who I was with the world, spreading my ideas and building off other people’s creations. This tendency of mine to create and share is what drew me to YouTube, the website built for me. On YouTube anyone could upload anything and potentially get a fan base allowing for a wide range of creative and diverse content. The site sparked my interest and I was inspired to create my own channel, Fioresi Films. Once my channel was created, it marked the beginning of a journey that would shape who I was.
I created the channel as a kid, unaware of how important YouTube would eventually become. My videos revolved around “Nerf Guns” which are practical and interesting toys that I used to create action videos for kids. At first I made the videos to show my friends, but I began to develop a fan base and earn money from ad revenue. There was no one to set deadlines for me or tell me what to do so I had to take charge to be successful. School and sports filled up most of my free time so I created a schedule for myself to make sure that I could upload consistently. I planned videos in advance, set aside time for editing, and wrote down ideas to save for later. This was a big change for me because I get excited about my work and wanted to upload as soon as I made a video.
