Thank you for considering my application. I currently maintain a 4.1 GPA with a heavy class load. I have completed AP Statistics, AP Calculus, Honors English (I and II), AP Language, DMACC classes, along with Project Lead the Way Classes. By the end of my Junior year, I will have attained all my required credits to graduate high school. In addition to my academics, I have shown leadership skills during my time as a student.
One of the first leadership positions that I held in high school was when I became a 9th grade ambassador. That’s a responsibility that was new to me, because my team chose me to lead. I remembered to listen to my team, so we could make a difference or have a good season. I quickly learned everyone's name and helped beginners. I think that is why my team chose me to lead. I can remember at the start of one practice when the rain poured hard and the ground grew sloppy. The coach had not shown up and my team members who arrived at practice were waiting in their cars. I realized that I needed to act otherwise we would not get in our warmups. I got out of my car, started putting my gear on, and got my ball out. Other players soon followed. I think my coach was surprised and pleased when she got there. This job required patience, responsibility and care. One of the four girls had special needs. She could do most things without help, but sometimes she would need more assistance then her sisters getting ready in the morning or for the pool. She also would be the one to explain the fights the girls would get into. They would get into a lot of fights: who got to sit in the front seat, who got to give the dog treats, and whose turn it was to pick the T.V. show. I would try to let the girls resolve their own fights, but when they got out of hand I had to step in and use my best judgement to come up with a compromise. Besides fights I also had to deal with emergencies. One time one of the girls had been stung about twenty times in the hands by wasps. She was crying and the other girls were all surrounding her trying to help. In this situation I had to remain calm and take charge, telling the other girls to sit in the living room, while I ran the poor girls hands under the water. In about an hour I had her smiling and patched up with ointment and band aids. Babysitting for those four was a real treat. Besides the fighting, they all behaved well, and I learned from the
