In my learning objective I said I would propose two changes to the merchandise department. The first one was incorporate a sale rack. This would do two beneficial things. One, attract customers into the store to possible buy multiple things not only what was on sale. Second, to decrease the inventory of items that either do not sell well enough or ones that are multiple years old. Both of these create room for new items to come in and make us more of a profit. This change did end up happening and really helped clear out the old apparel. The second change I proposed was some new and different items for next year. I mad a multiple page list of things I thought would sell well to customers. I also created new designs for them to pick to use or not to use. This project includes things from t-shirts to umbrellas and key chains. I also made sure to add pricing for everything based on quantities. Being that I have really only taken three business classes so far. I think the marketing class helped me the most for this internship. I understood the terms being used and why the Growlers would pick to market in the ways that they did. While I was taking the class Sports in Society I did not know how I would use what was being taught in the future. Just to expand on those a little further I now know what goes into running a merchandise store. One person could not do it all on their own. Getting the online store set up and managing the tent itself is a lot of responsibly. I have learned how to use Square, a retail tool used to keep track of inventory and all of the sales. I can now be more confident talking in front of people. I have never actually worked in an environment that has this many people. It would have beneficial to have an experience similar to know what it was like but it was an easy
