At Miller Children Hospital in Long Beach I have developed certain skills that are necessary in order to go into the Human Services Career. At Miller I have learned how to communicate with different people, learn how to take things not seriously, and how to not let my emotions get in the way of assisting children and family. When I go back and think about my first semester of internship I remember how difficult it was to open up to different people and build rapport with them. I remember being quite, nervous, and questioning my abilities in the Human Service career. Throughout my internship I have become more confident I am able to open up to people without being intimidated.
Hi Matt, this is Logan Sanders. After completing the preliminary Residential Assistant training I was not placed in a position. However, I was told by Shannon Jolley that "you are the very first person on our alternates’ list and will likely be awarded a position, even in the next few weeks". I received this email in early March, and understand that it I was not guaranteed a position. Regardless, I wanted to make contact to say that I am still interested in taking a position if one becomes available.

I have for some experience with the Foster Care System. I use to provide Foster Care in my own for numerous years for children of all ages. In my opinion, the Foster Care System needs a lot of work, however, the quality of care depending on who the case of a social worker and the Foster parents is for the child. Your provider 's who truly care about the child and really want to make a difference. Then there are those providers who simply do it as a business and for the money.
I began college in 2014 at the age of 58 years-old to change my area of employment and do something that is far more interesting to me, working within the social services field. I realize the fact I was brought up by two dysfunctional, abusive parents in a chaotic home lead me to search out that same type of familiar relationship when I left home at the age of seventeen. In short, I married a domestic violence abuser and alcoholic when I was 19 years-old and had 5 children. Ten years into the marriage, when I had finally reached the end of my rope, a local police officer helped me to obtain a Protection from Abuse order and removed my husband from the home. The foster home that I lived in had other foster kids and my foster parents Kathy and Mike also had children of their own as well. My foster parents children were so mean to me. I remember one time their middle child Kristi was brushing my hair and she was hurting me so I kept pulling forward. Kristi had gotten mad that I was doing that
After this assignment I have learned that Department of Social Services provides a lot of different services to those in need. Just from hearing and reading stories those who work in the field of Social Services aren’t always given a good rep, especially those who work in Child Protective Services. From doing this interview I was pleasantly surprised as to how much work Social Workers do to provide children with a safe and stable environment. There is a lot that goes into what they do every day. I have always known I want to work with children.
Well...I was 6 when Child Protective Services came to get us. I lived with my mom and my three sisters, the youngest was Donna she was 5 & Lizzy was 7 and Mary was 10. I remember most of my family lived in the same neighborhood like my two Aunts and my uncle and grandpa and grandma. There was an occasional gunshot, sometimes there was a fire truck rushing down our street . We lived on top of a hill at 1015 Norwich in Grand Rapids.

In an infant room the day is controlled by the children’s moods, and attention span. On this day, the general mood for the children was happy and very active. As for the staff members, they both seemed happy to be there and repeated told me how much they love working with the infants. The teachers were very attentive to children and right on top of children’s needs. All children are feed before starting the day, 2 Infants are feed by bottle and 6 children were capable of independently self-feeding.
For my project I am hoping to give a change to the daycare community is to work with the Preschool teachers of to correct the little Preschoolers misbehavior. I had quite some excitement that I was still going to work with children even though I had to change the topic because there is a bit of difficulties volunteering. When I was volunteering the people in charge of the daycare had me involved with was working with the little preschoolers
Making a difference I started my health care career as a nursing assistant at the young age of 16 years-old perusing the dream of one day becoming a nurse. At that time, I really had no idea what I was getting myself into and what it meant to be in the health care. I have been able to touch and impact so many different people’s lives throughout the last 6 years from patients and residents to their family members. Sometimes not even realizing that I was changing someone’s life. Although I’ve helped hundreds of people there is one person that will I will always remember.
I thoroughly concur with you when you say it is wonderful working with children. It is a rewarding job. I am exceptionally fortunate to have them around me and I know they cherish me around them. I work with infants and toddlers and simply the fact that most of them cry when I leave the room, or if something is wrong and they are not happy, they look for you for help make me understand how important I am to them.
Work with children Throughout my high school and college years, I have had several experiences with children that have all played a part in shaping my love for working with children. During high school, I spent two summers nannying for two young school aged children. Working with these siblings really made me realize how much fun I have working with children and watching them grow. Once I came to college, I started another babysitting job working with two four year old twin girls.
When I first started babysitting it was for a family with two children that were under the age of four, a little boy named Bentley and a newborn girl named Charlotte . The little boy has low functioning autism, which mean he was unable to speak and did things differently than other children. It was difficult to watch them at times, charlotte would be crying and fussy. Bentley would be crying for all my attention directed towards him, but he also had days where he did not want my attention and wanted me to leave him alone. Dinner time was always one of the hardest times of the night.
