This is because in my family no one has a degree except my father. My father was a teacher, and always encourages me and my brothers to get a career. For my brothers, having a career is very hard, and they believe that school is very difficult to concentrate. Now I am sure that my father will be very proud of me one day after getting my degree. Another example is that my niece Karen sees me as a role model.
One of my biggest supporters are my parents. Their support and conviction about the worth of acquiring an education has shaped my beliefs, values and ambition to continue higher education and use my career in a progressive way to give back to my community. Unfortunately, not everyone had the same support system like I did. Many of my peers struggled whether to continue their education or financially support their family. This is a very dangerous reality within the Latino community that needs to be addressed and resolved immediately.
I began college in 2014 at the age of 58 years-old to change my area of employment and do something that is far more interesting to me, working within the social services field. I realize the fact I was brought up by two dysfunctional, abusive parents in a chaotic home lead me to search out that same type of familiar relationship when I left home at the age of seventeen. In short, I married a domestic violence abuser and alcoholic when I was 19 years-old and had 5 children. Ten years into the marriage, when I had finally reached the end of my rope, a local police officer helped me to obtain a Protection from Abuse order and removed my husband from the home. My parents always told me that they would support me regardless of what I wanted to be. They have help me in many ways, such as helping me pay for college, buying me makeup and hair products, tips,advice,and by giving me feedback on my hair and makeup skills. Not only is my family very supportive but my friends play a big role as well. My friends have always gave me opportunities to practice on them. They also help me by always being truthful towards me.
I baked in the sun as I searched for my field position. I couldn't find it and I was getting a little irritated. Everyone else seemed to be settling in and eventually I was the only one looking for my field position.
The activity that I have been most involved in is Yearbook. I worked as a staff member for three years and this year am the Editor-In-Chief. My experiences in yearbook have helped me learn and grow in many different ways. First, I’ve improved my time management skills. Especially as Editor I have had to work around the deadlines from Jostens, the company we work with to create the yearbook; I have to manage my time and the time of the other staff members to ensure that we meet all of our deadlines.
My history as a writer has been a bit of a struggle of slow development. From a young age I had a hard time with spelling and this is still a trouble area for me, even with the help of autocorrect. As I grew in age and as a writer my problematic area became not including enough nitty gritty details. My bad experiences that I recall would always involve the start of writing because I struggle with beginning paragraphs. Also, I tend to use the ending paragraph to just repeat myself, so overall my first and last paragraphs are usually shit.

Education seemed like the perfect fit, as a teenager I developed a love for history and storytelling. I remember back to every important and memorable teacher going through school were social studies teachers. They always impacted my life both in the classroom and in athletic world.
After auditioning for my first professional show, I spent a week convincing myself that I wasn’t going to get the job and that, if I did, I wouldn’t be able to handle performing forty shows to 750 people every night. So, of course, when I landed a role in the show, I was terrified that I would make a fool of myself onstage, make no connections with my cast, and destroy my career in theatre before I even started. Nevertheless, I decided to face my fears and dedicate myself to the production so that I would grow as a performer and a person while creating art that preserved the culture of Calgary. “A Christmas Carol” at Theatre Calgary has been a fundamental part of Calgary’s culture for over twenty-five years, so my performance stakes were high.

It’s a game where everyone puts their hands in the middle of the circle and someone yells one, two, three ninja and everyone pulls their hands back and place them where they want them. After that you take turns trying to hit someone hand below the elbow and if you hit their hand, then the person that got hit has to put that hand behind their back. When both hands are out, then their are out. When I play ninja I was like one, two, three ninja, I tried hitting her hand and she like “ha ha” and then I was like “ha you missed me”, then I went and hit her hand and she was like At the end of the game she won, she took out both my hands and I was like you are pretty good at this.
The journey to finding your photographic style is different for everyone. For some it comes easily and they fall into it naturally. For others it takes longer and is more of a struggle. I was one of the photographers who struggled. My style did not come naturally and it was a source of frustration for a long time.
Authors, song writers, poets, playwrights, lyricists, narrators, painters, and directors all have one thing in common: storytelling. These people have the ability to take their knowledge and tools given to tell a clear story to an audience, whether they be in a theatre, gallery, or bookstore. What most people don 't realize is that there are many more storytellers in the world. We live deep down and come out when the lights shine on us...lighting designers are a great example. As a senior in high school, I have been gifted with theatre as a life-changing event.
Career Autobiography There are many things that I feel have led me to year number two of graduate school pursuing a career as a school counselor. For I while I tried to convince myself that a career in school counseling was not for me and ultimately everything led me here. My mother has been a school counselor for the last 25 years and I grew up watching her do something she loved. I went to school everyday and watched my mother make a positive impact on many of my classmates and this left a very lasting impression on me.
Support plays a huge role in any educational journey. It’s the basis on which helps one be able to stand on their own two feet. Without a strong support system behind you, it’s easier to waver and crack under pressure. That’s why I am so grateful to be able to have an amazing crowd of support stand behind me. As I mentioned before, my family is, and always has been, my biggest motivators.
