Nelson Mandela said “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” We watch the news and read the paper, seeing how crazy and hectic this world can be. It has always been a deep desire of mine to somehow positively impact the world. My personality has always taken a positive tone attempting to be up lifting and encouraging. I watched my parents from a young age do that very thing. My mother changing the world as an educator herself and my father saving lives as a firefighter and EMT. I knew that it was my destiny to impact the world somehow. Education seemed like the perfect fit, as a teenager I developed a love for history and storytelling. I remember back to every important and memorable teacher going through school were social studies teachers. They always impacted my life both in the classroom and in athletic world. Teaching me to never give up and to always strive for excellence. I have held on to this sentiment my entire life. Life has taught me that excellence does take time but is definitely achievable. Every day I wake up excited to go to work, excited to see what my students have to share, excited to see their growth. It is a true blessing to be able to do what I do. For the first time in my life it feels like I haven’t worked a day the whole year. The late nights of preparing new exciting presentations or checking and double checking TEKS ensuring I give my students everything they deserve. Is extremely important to me. That doesn’t feel like work that feels like duty. I have a duty to these kids that if I have the ability to give them everything I’ve got why would I not. My reward is the satisfaction in getting to spend my days with incredibly awesome students and teaching them about something I absolutely love, and touching the world in such an amazing
