Personal Narrative: An Interview With Ms. Gina Flowers

The professor I chose to interview is called Ms. Gina Flowers. She is serving in the department of English and humanities but also research strategies for the first time this semester. This is a professor I had the chance to have in two different occasions and I always wanted to know a little more about her experiences in this domain since she taught for so many years.

Dialogue

Abdoulaye –“Ms. Flowers, for how long have you been teaching?”
Ms. Flowers –“I started teaching in 2000, that is 15 years ago”.
-“What me you want to be a professor at that period of time?”
-“I wanted to support and encourage young people realize that they can make a difference in the world.”

In fact, I realized how important and necessary it is to choose one’s career based on real passion, natural skills and the will to contribute to something. As we can all notice, occasionally, it may be a lengthy and protracted road (15 years). Therefore being capable to accommodate, as you progress is essential to keep up with this rapid changing world. Technology is in its highest productive era people never seen before, by combining “old fashions” way of learning and teaching with current the current technological elements the world has to offer is primordial. Education is easy if we picture it through a different lens, considering that we just have to use our brain and to think. Quite frankly, the brain and the ability to think are the ultimate fundamentals. Bishop T.D. Jakes once said that “if you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose”. I believe that following our true passion and true heart is a strong statement people should delve into in order to minimize potential unfavorable
