Essay 1 Writing is the death of me no matter what other people might say. I struggle through procrastination and the creativity needed to write a good piece. Most people would say it’s easy and there is nothing more to it than putting down words and thoughts on paper. But for me, it’s different. I need a hook or a great idea for the wheels in my head to start spinning and my fingers to start moving to cause the formation of letters and words on my paper. Then after the spark from the great idea I am able to write a paper that I think is good and why make changes to something when it is perfect the way it is? Books were my favorite thing and finding new ones always intrigued me. I read all day during daycare and then all the time at school. New books, new series, new novels, I wanted to know them all. All the spare time available to me would be spent reading books along with my mom until I was finished and needed to find a new book to be indulged in. Harry Potter was one of the very first series that I read in elementary school that sparked my imagination and enabled me to picture every single word as I read it in my head with colors and imagination of what all the characters and scenes looked like. Looking at this, I formed my own style of writing. However, for me, it was easier to write about my personal experiences instead of creating a fictional story. These experiences enable me to put the images into words because the images had already been created, all I had to do was look back and think about my memories and start writing. My style of writing was formed from reading books and seeing what other authors had done. I write about my life as if an author was writing about the life of a character. For example, seeing someone die right in front of you, is one of those personal experience that flowed out on my paper. Being able to explain my thoughts helped me truly understand exactly how much it impacted me and I was able to show that to other people and display those thoughts as if it was still happening. This reminds me of historical fiction books. Historical fiction books are set up in the past and have true characteristics from the time period. One of my favorites being the Berlin Boxing Club by Robert Sharenow. It is formed around the time period of World War 2 but is a fictional book about a boy that looks up to a famous boxer just
