As a future student of Florida State University, I have worked hard to become the best student I can be to better your community. I have learned to take hardships and turn them into positive fuel to reach my dreams. I have learned how to take loss and turn it into a gain. I was taught these skills by surviving a tough childhood. When my brother passed away I learned, at the age of five, that life can be unfair. My mother turned to drugs, and I learned what it was like to fight grief alone. However, I had some good times as well. My sister was born and my dad got remarried and my family grew. I was able to grow from these sorrows. My childhood taught me that life never just hands you anything, that you have to work to get what you want. I
