I didn’t even know what cross country is before I came to this school. And by the end of the season, I was one of the best runners in the team. This transition didn 't come from nowhere. I was literally the slowest person in the whole team(including girls) when the season began. And I remembered what one of the girls in the team told me: Kenny, just go join another activity, there is not chance for you to make the APAC team.
About an hour later we made it in and found some seats. The first day was pretty relaxed since the meeting didn 't start until the afternoon. However, the next few days were full of four-hour lecture sessions and brilliant minds explaining their accomplishments and
After we talked to each other for a while we all thought that it would be a good idea to have a meeting to figure things out. The first
When I was was younger, I was a caterpillar crawling around trying to get through life, waiting to turn into the beautiful butterfly I know I could soon become. I made good decisions along with bad ones, saw the beauty in life as well as the unpleasant. I was like everyone else trying to be their own person, but now as I look at myself in the mirror I can finally see who I really am. I see myself as the beautiful butterfly I once dreamed of becoming, ready to fly down my own path. I have been in my chrysalis and I am finally out and ready to fly into my bright future.
When I started high school, the club that excited me the most, was National Honors Society. So, at the first chance I got, in my sophomore year. After being a member for a year, I quickly realized that I wanted to take on a leadership opportunity in the club. So, I took a shot for the stars, and campaigned for being president of Honors Society. Though I had some competition, I put my all into composing a speech, and I won the presidency, and I have been president since.
In my freshman year, I made a choice to relinquish some of my social life and replace that time giving back to my community. I joined a non-profit organization called the Volunteer Corp. We spent our time at food banks, park clean-ups, and even hosting local events. This experience left a lasting impression on me in many ways; however, one experience changed my perspective on life and serve as a constant reminder of how the smallest contribution to others can be the most powerful. St. Joseph University, in Philadelphia, held an event called Hand in Hand. It was an event dedicated to raising awareness for people with physical and/or developmental disabilities.
“THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!” I could hear my heart racing at what felt like 1,000 beats every minute that had passed. My stomach felt like it was tied up in knots as I was dripping with sweat from my head to my toes.
The age-old threshold of self-responsibility is something every teenager passes when moving on from high school. I had a taste of this life when participating in the Carnegie Mellon University Pre-College Program during this last summer. I was part of the National High School Game Academy, where we learned about game development and made our own video games. Life on campus was liberating, yet stressful, as I learned there were many entertaining activities as well as deadlines to meet during this six week program. Temptations such as clubs and amusement park trips plagued my entire stay on campus.
Next year at Embry-Riddle I plan start studying Cyber Intelligence and Security. Ever since middle school I knew I had a developing interest in the field of computer science and spent most of my time building the skills to excel in my classes. One of the first projects I got to use the computer on was a video for the Oregon Trail. I decided that it would be best to design an advertisement to showcase the facts in a new and creative way. When my group turned the project in, and it was shown to the class my teacher rewrote the assignment according to what we did and used it as an example of great work when recruiting new people.
With all the six years I’ve been at GCU I never had a counselor who never told me they couldn’t help. On top of the lack of assistance from her she really didn’t give me good advice. She wanted me to drop my new class and owe. I told her that was not what I was wanting to do but for her to assist me with informing my instructor,so that they all know what I was going through at the moment.
I am very shy when I first meet people but I am glad I was able to have my friends come with me. When we first got there we had signed in and waited for everyone to come. When it was about 10 minutes after 8, the president had started the meeting. The meeting started off with an icebreaker, 2 truths and 1 lie with an introduction of your name, home place, and major. Going around I saw familiar faces from jumpstart
When I arrived, I received a badge to be able to get through the building since it’s a locked unit, which means that you must have badge access to be able to get into the operating rooms or any areas that aren’t patient rooms. When I walked in the nurses were doing their daily huddle. That when they talk about how many surgeries they will have that day, and if they are missing any nurses or doctors. I got to meet all the nurses from both the post and pre-operative side. I had previously worked with a few of the nurses before at
I visited by the campus police office here at AUM and I learned a lot of information that I did not know previously. I found out that university police department was a part of the Office of Public Safety. I had always thought they were separate and not together. I also learned that there is an AUM Crisis Assessment Team on campus and this team is here to protect us from people who pose a threat to other people on campus. I leaned that the officers here are certified police officers.
In the novel 1984 by George Orwell will allow showing support for the thesis, by seeing how over time, mankind will be enslaved and controlled by technology as well human beings but it. The main character Winston is concerned about writing into his journal, the tone of fear that he might get caught. In Winston’s world, he’s always being watched no matter what with posters, mirrors, and the police are always watching “The police patrol, snooping into people’s windows” (2). Therefore a society within a corrupt system people loses their humanity making them no longer free.
The first half of this semester was swift and I can’t believe how fast it passed by. College is a whole new world for me that I had never imagined with a lot of new experiences that I hope will shift me into a better and smarter person. There are more things I can do in college that I would have never dared to do in high school and I am happy for these new freedoms. I am able to eat in class, leave class without asking and they don’t care if I pay attention or not. My high school teachers would always tell me to wait for the bell, sometimes would not let me leave and if I did not pay attention they would yell.
