My Forensic Fantasy I could hear the conversations below me and my director encouraging me to move forward, but I simply could not imagine myself completing the thirty foot tight rope after climbing a twenty foot pole and took five steps forward. I held my breath and stepped forward but faltered and stepped back. My campers were watching my every move and I had to prove to them that it wasn’t terrifying and that I was okay. Last year I completed the three year course with an occupational course completion certificate. With this certificate I can enter a four year college with three credits towards my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice along with the dual enrollment courses I have already completed. This year I continue to study criminal justice law and systems, but it has been a more kinesthetic experience by participating in mock trials, criminal investigations and traffic crash investigations. My teacher, Heather Lay, has been such an influence in my education and pushing me to try my best, especially with all of the mock situations she made me head leader of. Though, such mock situations have also supported and influenced my intrigue in the criminal justice field while satisfying my scientific curiosity. Along with the regular course work for my criminal justice class, I will also be job shadowing with the Ocala police department, fire rescue, dispatch and the criminal prosecutors at the Ocala court House. I will receive and extra three college credits for on the job training. Although great, the credits are not what matter the most it is the experiences. These experiences have not only aided me in pursuing my ultimate goal of obtaining at least a Bachelors in Science degree for a Criminal justice major but have further intrigued …show more content…

President Obama himself has stated that there has been a growth in jobs opportunities in such fields. Due to the ceaseless nature of crime, there may never be an end to the demand for police officers and criminal investigators along with forensic scientists who aid them in their cases. As other fields begin to diminish, the criminal justice field continues to grow along with science and medicine. These fields are consistently battling everyday issues such as epidemics, scientific breakthroughs and terrorism both in and out of the country. The economy has provided me with the ability to pursue a career that is in demand and that I am passionate about. After all, my mother would always tell them that she never feared that I would not be able to find a job and be successful because she somehow knew that I would choose a career that the world would not be able to function without and that not many would be able to
