The education system in the United States, from what I perceived, focuses on teaching skills that are essential to life, allows students to operate successfully in society, and to explore and find individual self and culture. Since I am focusing my college education in becoming a high school history teacher, I believe that the subject that I will teach, which history is, is an important and integrative part in the student’s everyday life and is an important part of fulfilling educational standards in the United States. Not only do I have the responsibility to teach students and help them grow, but I need to be someone who is capable and flexible to each individual students’ learning needs. As a teacher, I would have to say that I am an academic artisan, meaning that I am able to teach different types of students in a variety of ways that meet their learning needs. I want to build up students into successful adults and inspire them to work hard and meet their goals in life. Creativity is one of my strongest traits, which makes it possible for me to create different assignments and lessons for others with different types of imagination and thoughts. This also ties in and reflects my pedagogy teaching style as well. The pedagogy teaching style that I would employ in my future classroom would be differentiated instruction, because great minds come in many different packages, you just have to find ways to open them. As a teacher, I am an academic artisan that is able to accommodate my lesson and instruction to meet the students’ learning style needs. In order for the students to learn the skills that are essential to life, to operate successfully in society, and to explore and find their self and their culture, I must create a learning environment along with lessons and instructions that allows the student to do so. Family roles are essential to the success of their children because they are their main supporters of their future academic endeavors, and community roles are essential to the students’ success as well because it allows them to have real-world experiences and how things are happening around them, along with how it affects them personally as well. The saying “it takes a village to raise a child,” is a true statement because of how much influence the community and the family can have on a student.
