There are several qualities that make a good leader, william golding wrote lord of the flies which describes a leader named ralph who lead a group of boy who were stranded on an island by a fallen. When I raised my hand, and took my oath of service I had no idea of the journey Leadership Philosophy that laid ahead of me. Joining late in life was one transition, but the transition into the Non-Commission Officer (NCO) Corps, and a leader has been a very rewarding experience. The values that were instilled in me as a child and those that have been drilled into my make-up as an NCO are very similar. The tenants of the seven Army Values have been what I have lived by most of my life and career, however there are four out of the seven values that I hold most valuable and live out on a day to day basis.

Furthermore, Agreeableness and conscientiousness is perceived as a trait for transformational leaders (ARTOG2 et al 2005).
Wherever human beings are accumulated together in large numbers, they need leadership. Even a school needs a principle to mentor and escalate the school’s rank. Armies need generals to lead them to a courageous victory. Civilians need governments, captains of industry and intellectual leaders of thought as well. However, There are characteristics common to most great leaders that can be picked out.

In order to run a successful organization, especially a good standing Army, there needs to be quality leaders within the organization. Leaders are artists, remaining flexible and adaptable in order to conform to any certain situation. In FM 6-22, leadership is defined as, “the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission and improve the organization”. The vast majority of successful Army leaders exemplify this definition in their everyday life. So, what exactly does this process involve?
My leadership philosophy will always be to take care of Soldiers. Soldiers are important to the Army and, as such, should be as equally important as the mission. My personal values play a role in my leadership philosophy. The personal values I possess are honesty, integrity, good customer service, and knowing my job well. I carry out my responsibilities by prioritizing, organizing, following up, and always being available as much as possible.
Leadership Philosophy My philosophy as a United Stated Non-commissioned officer (NCO) is to carry out the traditions of the Army. My dedication is to provide training, mentorship and coaching to those whom I serve with. My philosophy as a Human Resources (HR) professional is to carry out my duties in an expeditious and effective manner. My goal is to enforce the Army Regulation to ensure proper steps and procedures are followed at all times.
LEADERSHIP QUALITIES 26. The dictionary meaning of Leadership is the action of leading a group of people or an organization, or the ability to do this. According to Dwight D. Eisenhower “Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it. To become an effective Military Leader, one need to have some significant leadership qualities”.
The major lessons for the military leaders to achieve the objectives of the National Military Strategy 2015 are a result of the evolution of the ways to fight the war, the relations among the involved actors and the use of the military to get political objectives. To show the importance of these lessons, this essay discussed the relevance of the ingenuity of the commander and the proper assessment to deter, deny and defeat adversary states, the need of adaptation and focused communication to combat violent extremist organizations and the utility of a combination of soft and hard power to strength alliances and partnerships. The leadership philosophy I have adapted is a testament to the leaders I have been fortunate enough to serve with throughout my military career. I have learned many professional and personal lessons from the leaders I have served with, these lessons have helped shape me into the leader I am today. I consider myself unusually lucky when it comes to the seniors I have had the privilege to work with because I have had a mostly positive experience in 15 years. Over the years I have formulated my own philosophy with the abundance of lessons I have picked up along my military journey. As a leader I did not allocate much emphasis into what my personal leadership philosophy until I was a Staff Sergeant with probably at least 7 years’ time in service.
Leadership in the Army is the fundamental foundation of the organization. Leaders like Officers and Non- Commission Officers implement and set the standard of leader to soldiers. These leaders ensure the Army soldiers are trained and prepare for any hardships they face. The term Leadership can be defined differently based on the organization in which the term is applied to. In the Army Leadership can be described as a "characterized by a complex mix of organizational, situational, and mission demands on a leader who applies personal qualities, abilities, and experiences to exert influence on the organization, its people, the situation, and the unfolding mission" (ADP 6-22).
This paper will examine the three leadership theories, identify how they apply to my practice, and explore how these theories interact with each other. The Trait Leadership Theory is based on the belief that a person is born with special traits contributing to natural leadership abilities. Studies of famous historical leaders have been used to identify various traits for this theory. Although the list of traits differs from study to study, there are five major traits that are consistent throughout most studies.
