I am applying for this essay because it incorporates a sport that I love and it would be nice to come out of college with as little debt as possible. I will use these funds to help pay for college so I can come out of college with a nice degree and find a job suited for me somewhere in the medical field. In the Lennox football program I learned a lot of things. One being leadership. I think of myself as a naturally-born vocal leader and that definitely showed in football. It takes a tough person to play the sport of football. Not just physically but mentally as well. I wouldn’t have survived a day in the football program if I did not learn quickly to be tough. Another big value I learned was love. Love for the game. I developed a big passion for the sport during junior year when I began starting on defense, offense, and special teams. After getting this role of a starter, I felt I held a much bigger role on the team than previous years. After gaining this role, I really fell in love with the game. I also learned to love my teammates and coaches. They pushed me to be the very best I could be every day and I will always remember them having my back through thick and thin. Lastly, I learned how to handle adversity. During my varsity seasons, our football team did not have a very high success rate. We struggled frequently to score the ball and create big stops during the game. Because of this, our team experienced a lot of hardships and adversity. Coach Luze always preached we need to handle adversity in the best way and we need to bounce back. We tried very hard to bounce back every week, but it did not seem to ever
