The way kids learn everywhere differs and can really just depend on their school. At my school, the students use computers to work on assignments and to turn in their homework. But is that what we need? Sometimes this can hurt us by the lack of all students being technologically savvy. In this essay, I’m going to use my school as an example and point of reference making it easier for me to provide you with information.

In regards to the classroom, shouldn’t the student’s responsibility be to pay attention and engage himself in the classroom and discussion? This will start making the student’s self-esteem to go up, feel better about their selves, and improve their outlook on school and life, looking forward to what’s on the horizon ahead. If we do this early on many will get hooked on learning enjoying the idea of going to school and looking forward to learning something new, thus encouraging students to set higher standard for themselves. Personally, I would like to have more time to process the information learned in each class. Many of us feel as though we are taught at and not taught to. Some suggestions might include teachers speaking at a level that is easily understood by all, giving more time to ask questions, and practice in class for more difficult activities.

An easy way to help with this is to make groups and activities with a technique called Graffiti Wall. A Graffiti Wall is where a student puts an idea or question on the board and the whole class discusses it and all. Groups of students are formed to allow group discussion and encourage students to communicate with other students. Activities that allow students to have more hands on experiences help to give them problem solving skills rather just doing a worksheet.
