Please accept this letter of introduction as part of my application to ________’s Department of Family Medicine/Internal Medicine/Pediatrics.
Being raised in a family of physicians did not discourage me from pursuing the same career. Traveling from America to Romania after pursuing a Biomedical Science major at University at Buffalo, for medical education was one of the most radical decisions in my life. Having left a place where everything was familiar and seemed to fall in its place, I was now building my way to medicine on the other side of the world. Such a radical decision and change in lifestyle was both a risk and an opportunity. Medical education was now within my reach.

Such a physician must ascertain and maintain exceptional magnitude of academic knowledge to deal with a diverse array of medical problems within a broad patient population. In addition, communication, patient education and preventative medicine lie at the core of this profession.
Throughout my broad and somewhat unusual road to medical education, I have tried to focus on my interest on Internal Medicine. The decision to come to the United States for postgraduate medical training was a step in that direction. To further strengthen my experience, I have completed of several observerships in United States.
During school years I have been active in many groups and committees and I have participated in a number of volunteer activities, organizations and workshops. I seek a program that will present an opportunity to become a well-rounded and confident clinician when faced with challenges.

I seek a residency program that will provide intensive clinical experience with a diverse patient population, promote patient education, encourage participation in community service, and require significant teamwork between the residents and the fellow staff. What I want the most from my career is to direct all my aspirations into something meaningful and valuable. I am thoroughly committed to pursue a career in Internal Medicine and I can only hope that I will be able to give this profession as much as I think it can give me.

My preference for the Internal Medicine Program at __________ is based on several factors. Most important is the fact that ________ has an established and well-respected department of Internal Medicine. Secondly, the program stresses on high quality of education and research. Thirdly, the program offers a community/urban/university program, which may offer a small patient population, but gives a better change to develop a closer relationship with them/an active duty and a diverse patient
