Having problems? Not for much longer because the psychologist is here to help! Psychologists are important in our world, by helping people with problems they can’t handle on their own. My focus is on children because children are very important to me and I love helping people, so I decided to do both. That is why Child Psychologist is what I would like to pursue as my career choice. The goals of a Child Psychologist is to investigate more about how someone's brain functions, distinguish dysfunctional behaviors, analyse which disorder they may have, research and identify their behavior, and discuss the treatment of their problem. “There are two main diagnostic manuals used to categorise dysfunctional behaviors. ICD (international Classification of Disorders) and DSM (Diagnostic Statistical Manual) (Categorising dysfunctional 3).” These are used to diagnose people with disorders. “Psychology is concerned with the understanding and treatment of dysfunctional behaviors.” (The Psychology of Dysfunctional Behavior 1). Dysfunctional behaviors has to with disorders that is involved in people's life. Child with dysfunctional behaviors need to see a psychology to help them with there problem. There are different types of dysfunctional behaviors. For example, “Anxiety disorder, Schizophrenia, and affective disorders are examples of dysfunctional behaviors” (The Psychology of Dysfunctional Behavior 1). There are plenty other dysfunctional behaviors but those are just a few. “ Dysfunctional behaviors has been called many things abnormal, atypical, and currently dysfunctional which reflects society's view of the individual.” (Diagnosis of dysfunctional behaviours 1). “Psychologists use the following guidelines when assessing whether behaviour is abnormal: Distressing, dysfunctional, deviant.”(Normal and Abnormal Behavior 3). The three D’s are what they classify dysfunctional disorders with. Let me first go in depth about different disorders. “Depression episodes is characterized by feelings of intense sadness, guilt, fatigue, and irritability ( Kendra Cherry 1). “ Antisocial personality disorder is a disorder that is characterized by a long-standing pattern of disregard for other people's rights” (Steve Bressert, Ph.D. 1). Those are examples of disorders. Now i'll give you a few examples about mental disorders. “ Bipolar disorder is a mental disorder that is characterized by serious and significant mood swings (John M. Grohol, Psy.D. 1). Schizophrenia is another mental disorder. “Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that is characterized by hallucinations and delusions ( John M. Grohol, Psy.D. 1). “Insomnia is associated with a range of problems, including clinically significant impairment or distress in social, occupational, and other important areas of functioning”(Lee M. Ritterband and Elise M. Clerkin (University of Virginia). Elaborating more on what disorders mean mental and substance disorders are caused by about twenty three percent of years lost because of disability ( World Health Organization fact 2). “About half of mental disorders begin before the age of fourteen”( World Health Organization fact 1). That being said “ Mental disorders increase the risk of getting ill from other diseases such a HIV, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and vice-versa” ( World
