Raising children can be a difficult task, especially for first time parents. This task can be even more challenging when your child has deficits, impairments or a type of behavioral, physical or emotional impairment or disorder. Determining when to intervene and seek help, or to allow the child go through the phase can be confusing and quite frustrating. ODD can be treated with a mixture of behavioral interventions, also known as Psychotherapeutic treatment, and medications. Psychotherapeutics is a type of therapy that promotes interaction with the parent and the child. Different exercises are given, as the therapist coaches the parent through an earpiece. Through this process, the parent learns how to appropriately react to negative or unapproved behaviors, to increase a more positive interaction with the child.
