Personal Statement: Developing Countries Like El Salvador

Ever since I moved to the United States, I have come to question if developing countries, like El Salvador, will ever reach the “developed” label. Will they ever have the resources to offer proper education and substantial living? I want to help developing countries make their way out of poverty. I believe Georgetown University will equip me the right tools to ensure developing countries flourish one day, and also empower me as a global leader.
The globally focused curriculum followed by McDonough School of Business will expand my concept of globalization. I am aware globalization has benefited developed countries like the United States, or China. However, it has negatively impacted countries like El Salvador or Honduras, where global companies tend to go to for low cost labor, but where the expenses of living are as high as the United States. The global perspective I will develop in Georgetown University will provide me with the critical and analytical problem-solving needed to design and implement solutions to mutually benefit the United States and countries like El Salvador. …show more content…

I am especially drawn to the fact that classes relate most of their concepts to real-life circumstances; an opportunity that will maximize my ability to think critically about different situations and act correspondly, either to contribute inside or outside of the classroom.
