I am Brandon and I am also a Christian pacifist who would like to experience and learn all the different types of culture that the world has to offer. I am from the city of Clermont, located in Florida and have been living in Clermont my whole life. I have actually lived in the same house for all twenty-one years I have been alive. I am actually hoping that after I earn my Bachelor degree in Elementary Education I can become a teacher and be able to finally leave my hometown. I am hoping that I am able to teach in a school on Native American reservation. I want to do this as I have Cherokee ancestry and would like to help repair the damage that was caused in the past. My experience with teachers not being able to read my handwriting and saying all I need is practice did not make any improvements. My previous academic experience before GCU was Lake Sumter State College in my hometown and it was a pleasant experience. I attended Lake Sumter and obtained my Associates Degree and was an officer in my colleges Student Government Association. I enjoyed working in SGA as it allowed me to meet new friends and improved my leadership skills. The other benefit I enjoyed when attending Lake Sumter was the library as it had a 3D printer as well as a workshop. My main concern though when attending Lake Sumter was how limited their choices were when furthering my education. With the only options of degrees being offered being a business degree or nursing. With my biggest expectation of GCU is that it challenges my beliefs and that it will improve my way of thinking. I am actually academically prepared for college life and ready to progress further in my studies and my goal is to be able to learn the skills necessary to be an effective educator. My main priority while attending GCU is to attain and maintain 3.5 GPA. I know this is not easy goal but I have prepared myself and have obtained the skills necessary to stay organized in college. I am planning on having my degree and to be a teacher by the time I turn 24, which is in 2 years. I choose the teaching profession as I feel like I have been called to be teacher by God and have always enjoyed working with children.
