I have chosen Biochemistry and Biomedical science as I would like to become a researcher and progress human advancement. Although we live in a technologically advanced society more than a quarter of the world's population lack basic needs, such as nutrition, clean water and healthcare. I find this unacceptable as every person should have an equal opportunity for life regardless of where they are born. By using Biochemistry to further my knowledge, I hope to be able to research efficient and life changing solutions, which may range from finding cheaper ways to provide clean water and clean renewable energy, to finding cures for diseases. I would like to research in areas concerning human disease as I truly believe that science can, has, and will make a difference for a majority of people on this planet. Thanks to research small pox and other illnesses have been cured, so it is inevitable that human beings will find ways to cure these illnesses, and I hope to be a part of this. …show more content…

With Biology and Chemistry I can understand how the human body operates and the molecular processes. These subjects will grant me a foundation on which Biochemistry can build on. I enjoy the practical side of Biology and Chemistry as they allow me to understand the workings of the human body and the inner workings of myself. I have a level one sports leader qualification which has helped further my skills at management of myself and others. Completing The Challenge, which is sponsored by the national citizenship service, has provided me with necessary skills on how to adapt to new situations and efficiently solve a problem by compartmentalising it. I have work experience working for youth clubs for children from an underprivileged background and have thoroughly enjoyed this
