Personal Statement of Educational Philosophy Considering my future job placement as an elementary school educator, I believe that my attitudes, background, and basic dispositions align with what I know and believe align with what is expected of people in the education field. Throughout the course, I have gained a better knowledge of my beliefs and attitudes toward teaching. I have learned that in teaching, it is important to not take students personal beliefs and attitudes and use them against them. As an educator, student’s differing beliefs should never interfere with their education or the way that they are being taught. I believe that I am able to create a learning environment where teaching is understood and thoroughly explain, scaffold and model information so that the students are able to complete the lesson effectively and with accuracy to learn. I have learned this information during clinicals and I believe that my epistemological beliefs help me with this. Being able to understand my students and the way that they learn as individuals, allows me to create effective lessons to benefit their learning. Under domain 4: professional responsibilities, my axiological beliefs assist the way that I view my professional responsibilities. Under section 4c: communicating with families I have not had to deal with a scenario yet to have to communicate with families, but I do believe that this is something important in the classroom. Parents/guardians should always be kept inform on their student’s work, behavior and additional information. When I have a classroom, I will send home at least a monthly news letter, but hopefully a biweekly news letter. This will help the parents stay informed but also potentially keep them more involved in their students lives. My most recent clinical placement sent home a weekly news letter, which kept many of the parents
