Through the classes I have taken at City College and my experiences in the classroom, I have developed a personal teaching philosophy that will be implemented into my future classrooms. My personal goal for my future classroom is to challenge students and watch them grow to their full potential. In order to make this possible it is essential that educators believe that all students are capable of learning. With the proper motivation, direction, and modifications all students can learn.
I am a big proponent of group work and collaboration projects. Group work is key because I believe that it fosters a positive learning environment in which everyone feels like they have something to contribute. The impact that group work has within the classroom, when students help fellow students is remarkable because it transforms the atmosphere of the classroom. By students working in groups they are able to develop strong interaction skills as well as social skills. In my classroom, I think it is important that groups are flexible and to make sure students are aware that groups will constantly be changing whether it is by subject or depending on the lesson.

From my educational experience, I felt like I learned best when I was encouraged and supported. I intend to motivate my students by getting to know their interests, their abilities and their families. I believe that all of these factors are key to implementing challenging yet supportive lessons and assignments. As a bilingual teacher that wants to support all students, I will differentiate my lessons to meet the needs of all of my students. I will provide language supports by implement the most effective strategies when working with ELLs. I will provide scaffolds, model, incorporate the use of manipulatives, and hands on learning
