Some people say that if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything; to give someone the gift of health would be to change their whole world. I want to go to medical school because there are few greater rewards than to save a life and change someone’s world. My desire is to serve others, while also doing what I enjoy. I love to teach people and share with them some of the knowledge that I have been fortunate enough to obtain. Although I have had the opportunity to study many subject areas in depth, I have always had a natural interest in the sciences and healthcare. To be truly good at something, you need heart, mind, and soul. The heart, to me, is compassion. Helping those in need has been a priority in my life. Throughout high school I actively volunteered at several philanthropies with National Charity League, made Sunday sandwiches with my friends and passed them out to nearby homeless communities, and built homes and provided for homeless families in Mexico. Last year, I volunteered at the Mustard Seed School, a free private school for homeless kids. Through that experience, I not only learned about the homeless community in Sacramento and their needs, but I was also able to influence the student’s lives for the better by giving them love and attention they deserve and may not receive at home, and helping them learn important basic skills. Physicians touch lives at their most vulnerable moments, and I would like to be there for people in a meaningful and caring
