My goal is to become a primary doctor working with underserved communities, especially the Latino community. My work and volunteer experience and my professional goal are committed to provide service to the community with cultural competence, diversity and service orientation. CMSRU humanistic education in the art and science of medicine will complement these life experiences, characteristics, as well as my professional and personal interests and goals. As a medical student at CMSRU I will be able to receive an excellent education in patient care, will feel included in the CMSRU community, will share and strengthen my professionalism, collaborative and and civic responsibility skills. The mission and core values of CMSRU match my interests,
I believe I should be accepted into to the University of North Dakota School Of Medicine because of my commitment to practicing primary rural care in the Midwest, my experience working with the underserved populations of my community, and my desire to advance medicine through research. Growing up in a small rural community, I was fortunate to have the same primary care physician. However, recently our town has experienced difficulty in hiring and retaining physicians. My enjoyment of my rural community inspires me to someday become a physician in this type of community. My commitment to serving the underserved population of my community is demonstrated through volunteering for 5 years at a clinic for the uninsured.
I continued to show leadership and service outside of the classroom by helping to start Wright State University’s first ever Global Public Health Brigades chapter. Yet above all this, I believe I bring a great deal of passion. My experiences have led me to the belief that the best investment we can make is in each other. It is my goal to elevate the communities I serve through compassionate care and the promotion of health. I believe I have proven capable of handling the academic rigors of medical school and that I deserve the opportunity to continue to prove myself.
I would like to express my utmost gratitude for scholarship support at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. The funds allotted will greatly help me toward achieving my goal of becoming a physician. I am very involved in the TTUHSC SOM community along with my coursework. As a member of the student government, I am one of two Educational Policy Committee Representatives for my class. I help bring pertinent information about educational policy changes to our class and participate in post-course reviews to improve courses for future classes.
I decided to come to Campbell University for many reasons. I am here to get an education, of course but there is much more to it than that. I want to be a Nurse Practitioner, preferably, women’s health nurse because as women we go through a lot with our bodies. For a long time, I never understood my body and sometimes I still do not understand it. My mother, was born with cysts on her ovaries.
I was inspired of how a nurse, doctor, physician, therapist, nutritionist and so much more specialist can just help another person’s life by the knowledge they have encoded; to make a person feel happy without evening having a real bond with them. I have always been passionate about working in the medical field. When I finally hit my junior year in high school I’ve never been more interested in this field. I started taking courses directing me towards the medical field such as, medical terminology, chemistry and the nursing assistant class offered at East High School. I had set a life goal for me that I will follow to leave me to be a physician assistant.
My goal as a physician is to empower my patients and find ways to decrease the many health disparities within my underrepresented community. The key to change is to understand. By understanding why a patient of mine is non-compliant with the care plan or why a patient is receiving limited health care will allow the both of us, together, to find a solution to change and help the individual find empowerment. U of MN Medical School is located in a huge diverse city. I will get to increase my knowledge of more cultural perspectives, develop strong relationships with diverse individuals and groups, and work together to improve the overall quality of care within my
My desire to practice medicine comes directly from my determination to provide healthcare access to underserved communities such as the one that I was raised in. My mission is to bring access to these areas by providing quality primary care while improving the quality of life. I believe that everyone has the right to health and I have witnessed how a lack of medical guidance can lower a community’s quality of life. In high school, I was able to take a few classes where I was exposed to medicine, science, and research. As I continued to explore the field, my passion to learn more about medicine has continued to grow.
Earning a master’s degree, receiving a BSN, and earning a spot in Appalachian's Honors College are all factors that work toward my most important goal, making my mom proud. My mother works hard every day, and she is often exhausted when she comes home from work. I know she is working so hard to support my two brothers and me to earn enough so that we can go to college. I want to show her that her hard work will pay off and that I am going to take the opportunities she has provided for me and go beyond her expectations. Medicine has always been a big interest of mine, and many of my professional and personal goals revolve around it.
What Motivates Me to Pursue a Career in Medicine and What Attracts me to the UMKC six year Medical Program? My main motivation towards pursuing a career in medicine is my friend Russel who suffers from a severe medical condition that requires chemotherapy and home treatment regimens. I have been his bestfriend since kindergarten and, as such, I always accompany him whenever possible when he goes to the hospital for treatment or help him in whatever way that I can at home or at school. It is this constant exposure to the field of medicine as well as my desire to help my friend in overcoming his disease that initially motivated me towards a career as a doctor (Paolino 14).
My passion towards medicine is what fuels my strong desire to improve myself as an individual and to give back to those who need it most. I only wish that I had discovered this passion at a younger age so that I may have begun my journey at an earlier time. Looking back at the hardships that I faced from the loss of loved ones to my own personal ailments, I have completely turned my life around over the last five years and now my determination and resolve is greater than ever. I cannot undo my past academic shortcomings from when I was much younger but I can guarantee that the person applying to this prestigious program is willing to devote themselves entirely to the professionalism and sacrifice that this program
Why did you decide to become a physician and how do you plan to use your time as an undergraduate student to reach your goal? *
But my dreams do not end there. From Penn State and Jefferson, I wish to carry medical school training to practices that have physician and doctor shortages and to areas that are not affluent in medical care. I desire to provide medical care to those who can not afford it. By entering into an accelerated program, I know for sure that my dreams will become a reality and that I will not stop until they are reached. I will be able to pave my future into medicine by applying to this accelerated medical program at Penn State, but for now I shadow and volunteer in hopes that one day that I will be the
On a larger scale, working towards medical school will be one of my life’s greatest hardships, but I am glad to have had the opportunity to experience this smaller challenge to better prepare myself for the
My career goal is to become a pediatrician. I am interested in becoming a pediatrician because I enjoy working with children and being in a healthcare environment. Ever since I was a young child, I have developed a great interest in healthcare as I was inspired by my doctor’s endless altruism, care, and comfort. As a pediatrician, I will be able to develop long-term relationships with patients, work with a diverse group of individuals, and make a difference in children's lives. In order to do pursue this goal, I will attend a 4-year private university to major in Biology and focus on Pre-Med.
