Personal Statement: Pursuing A Career In Creative Arts

Art has always been apart of my life growing up. I was introduced to art by my aunt who is really big into arts and crafts and would bring paint, glitter and other tools for my cousin and I to use for projects. All throughout elementary school I would win “cutest shoebox contests” and “most creative costume contests”. I loved working with art supplies to make something beautiful and that passion is still very much alive. Now that I’m older that passion has turned into something I love doing with kids. I feel like some children need a way of expressing themselves, and an easy way to do that is with art.
Starting a Creative Arts day camp for kids is a dream of mine. I’ve had experience working in elementary schools in their art department helping the teacher put together projects. I want my camp to have two main components, hands-on activities and freedom. Freedom meaning they will be able to work on our projects, their own projects, or just play and have fun. We will be offering the campers activities such as, making robots, kites, play computer games, etc. Providing kids with a spark of inspiration, they will be able to do it all day and take off with it.
Next step is finding a place that will give you the leeway to host a camp there. Churches, synagogues, or temples are probably the best option for a camp. All the camps I attended when I was younger we’re in small church buildings, so I figure finding a church to host our camp during the week when the church isn’t in use is a good option. Finding a church near a park or other play areas would be ideal for the kids to have ample space to run around and play.
The trickiest part of starting a camp will be to figure out how much it’s going to cost. I personally would look at other camps for reference and establish a policy, regardless of
