In November 2017, I finished my undergraduate from Dartmouth College with a degree in Environmental Studies. As a freshman, my sights were sold on Astronomy or Engineering, since there always seemed to be something new being discovered or invented. It was my first Environmental Studies class during my Sophomore summer in 2016 when I caught a glimpse of what my future would look like. I was introduced to Agroecology, a field that puts an emphasis on agriculture by creating sustainable systems of management. At first, I saw this as a way to be outside, enjoy the summer weather, and fulfill a hobby of mine consisting of manual labor. Many of these companies were Fortune 500 so for them to take this costlier route of action, meant creating an alternate platform managing both their ability to be sustainable while bringing in a substantial profit yearly. I was new to this, so I put it in my best interest to understand how companies made it work. During this same time, a colleague of mine and I decided to use our skills to provide sustainable practices in landscape and home improvement. This meant creating ways to efficiently use the tools available to us in a way that provided the best financial profit and gave the recipient of our business a clean and welcoming landscape, with no detriment to the environment.
