A research shows that there is nearly 40 percent decline in the employment rate among 16-19 years old over the last 12 years. This is the lowest rate since World War II. There must be some reasons that makes the teens employment rate extremely low. A report also noted that people who work at a young age are more likely to earn more money.

This project taught me multiple life lessons. These lessons included concepts such as communication skills, detailed planning, leadership, and vital importance of keeping a commitment. My Eagle Scout Project has given me experiences, and vital practice with skills that most seventeen-year old’s do not receive until later in life. Often youth is subjunctive to lower class status due to individuals’ misconceptions that youth is not capable to take issues seriously. Researchers have found that “over the course of human evolution, the willingness to take risks during this period of life has granted an adaptive edge” (Dobbs 4). By realizing that taking risks is an important part of coming-of-age, teens develop a new perspective. The article points out that “we enter a world made by our parents. But we will live most of our lives, and prosper (or not) in a world run and remade by our peers” (Dobbs 4). Teens realize that they are transitioning to a whole new world as they come of age; a world run by their generation.
I will be able to grow as a student and as a leader, by receiving this opportunity. I am a bit of an introvert at first, and by pushing myself to aim high, this pushes me out of my comfort zone into unfamiliar territory. This can teach me to strengthen my conversation skills and my ability to socialize others. I will grow as a student by constantly reinventing and strengthening my beliefs and values.
