The Freshman 15 is a thought that crosses the minds of most future college students, but most say that it won’t happen to them. This fear of losing a toned body after graduating high school bothers some more than others. They realize after high school there are no longer athletics, and they’ll no longer be exercising regularly. Also, when they depart from their parents house and begin to live on their own their eating habits change.
Schoolies week is a festival held on the Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise for year 12 students who have just finished school. The schoolies organisation host different events such as the beach party, the glow party and the movie night. There is a large amount of controversy about weather schoolies week should still be going or not. There are a lot of issues involved with schoolies such as underage drinking, drug use, unsafe sex, injury and sometimes death. 1,500 teenagers attending Schoolies on the Gold Coast are surveyed each year by Drug Arm Australia.
All year round schooling. During the summer most students are at home or on trips with family, some are in school working all summer long. It is not because they have summer school, but it is because their school has switched to all year round schooling. The students could be invited over when they are in school; if their friends or family from different schools that does not have all year round schooling. Some students will not have a summer or get to spend anytime with their friends.
According to Public School Review “86% of public schools still operate on a traditional schedule,” (Year Round vs. traditional schedule public schools 1). Meanwhile, 14% of schools in the U.S are operating on a year round schedule. Students shouldn’t have year round school because schools would have to pay more money, tourism and other industries count on summer profits, and parents are burdened with students lengthy schedule. To begin, many students are weighed down with the stress of school,therefore, schools should stick to having a summer break. Students shouldn’t have year round school because it would add costs to schools.
Year Round School Many schools have switched to year round schooling. In fact, there are 3,181 schools in the Michigan. With that 10% of those schools are public schools. Also, many schools with year round school have had high test scores and better rates. In year round school kids are showing more success and more understanding.
School Year Round Why would anyone want to go to school a year-round? (Rhetorical Question) School should be a year-round because then students will not forget their learning, be more focused on their education and it will be easier to earn their credits in a shorter period of time. Firstly, A school year-round should be offered each year so students will not forget the learning. Many students that come back from their summer break most likely struggle on what they have learned, for instance, everyone ignores most of the subjects and methods that everyone discovered last year.
After school, from 3 to 6 p.m, is a critical period of time in a child’s life. After school programs help keep kids safe and inspire them to learn during that period of time. After school programs are organized programs that youth can participate in outside of a traditional school day. Enrolling children in after school programs would provide them with benefits that unenrolled children would not receive, such as reduce risky behavior and promote physical health. After school programs provide a safe environment for children, while positively impacting their academics, safety, and their future.
The things that we are taught as kids growing up from the grades K-12 suck and need to change. There are too many kids failing out of high school and not graduating and going on to bigger degrees or getting higher education because they're aren't able to even graduate high school classes. About 25% of high school freshmen fail to graduate from high school on time, that's 7,000 students each day drop out of school. The United States needs to change their school systems as soon as possible because there are way too many kids in the next generation, the new millennium, and working civilians, not being able to get the right education they need to have a good successful life.
Home schooling is a trending concept that is popular mostly in US and around the world. Home schooling preferred often by the parents that have environmental concerns, religious beliefs, lack of confidence to the education quality of the public and private schools and inadequacy of curriculum. They believe that they can give better education to their children at home. According to Jamie Martin (Homeschooling 101: What Is Homeschooling, 2012), home schooling began to grow in the 1970s, when popular writers and researchers such as John Holt and Dorothy and Raymond Moore wrote about the educational reforms and they alleged that home schooling is a valid educational alternative.
STEM programs, especially ones from K-12 education, are one of the most popular programs that parents look for to place their children into. The word STEM has become a key word for parents to the point where the word is becoming a factor on how parents choose an after-school program. A study done by America After 3pm, a program from America Alliance that support and studies the effects STEM after-school programs on children and communities, reveals that parents consider STEM as one of several other factors of choosing an afterschool program. They have also found that there is a difference between access to STEM opportunities and participation in STEM learning. There is higher rate of parent satisfaction towards after-school STEM programs that have their children participate in numerous activities to help their children gain STEM skills rather than having them learning STEM, where they can easily forget it if it is put to use.
Although college is stressful and time consuming , having your dream career, is a huge life achievement. Having a job isn’t the same as having a career “I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as 'making a life”(Maya Angelou). If you sell yourself short by not going to college you’ll end up working just to make ends means not because it's what you enjoy doing, it's due to your family counting on it. Those who go to college will end up having a better future than those who don’t. I agree that going to college is more beneficial because my view on the topic states that in order to have a secure and clear future you must go to college.

From past experiences with the system and everything that comes along with it. Some of the problems with the education would be the teachers giving too much attention, how they grade and giving extra credit when it isn’t necessary.
Many parents believe that homeschooling is the best option for their children. For those people who don’t know what exactly homeschooling is, “A home school is a school in which parents teach their children an academic curriculum at home instead of sending them out to a public or private school. Home schooling is legal throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, Hong Kong, and South Africa. Home schooling is most popular in Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Home schooling is legally accepted in all 50 states of the U.S., but each state has its own laws that a family must adhere to.
A child is struggling to learn at his/ school. He is more of a visual learner, like learning with pictures and shapes in front of him. His school, however, does not have the power and funding to do such things for him, which leaves him struggling and get bad grades. Now, why does he have to struggle in a school system which can’t even support his learning style?
I had my first tuition class when I was 10 years old. The need came when I cried my eyes out for a Mandarin composition homework that I couldn’t write. My parents themselves were stumped by the homework and thought it was best to enrol me in a Mandarin tuition class. Nowadays, kids as young as 3 years old are enrolled in tuition classes. Is there even a need to send these children for extra classes?
