Throughout history we always choose a victor and a losing faction. The determination of right and wrong is entirely based on who won rather than what is best for the majority. The downfall of our society is that we cannot recognize our own strengths or admit our weaknesses. Just like Napoleon from Orwell’s novel Animal Farm, we want to be admired by others, while enriching our own well-being. By doing so we create our own Animal Farm where we idealize America as the best rather than attempting to advance our own mindset and improve upon the foundations of our democracy. Two separate factions exist in American society, just like the pigs in comparison to other animals within Animal Farm. These factions are the presbyterians versus the plebeians, the aristocracy versus the working class, or the lower class versus the upper class. Citizens become so biased and uninvolved in their political system that the initial good intentions are ultimately lost in the fight for prominence. A constant plot within Animal Farm is the goal of equality for all animals. Yet, they are unable to reach this goal because the animals are ultimately locked out of the political process. Causing them to be uninformed of their own supreme law of the land. They end up being manipulated by Squealer’s antics and they never notice the discrepancies occurring until it is too late. Such as whenever the pigs were confronted by the other animals Squealer just changes the interpretation to benefit the pigs.“You did not suppose, surely, that there was ever a ruling against beds?
