The lives of animals are just as important as any human life. Animals receive poor treatment during experiments. There are about 100 million animals used for testing each year in the United States. Animals are tortured and abused and the scientists care very little about their comfort. Animals deserve better treatment and respect from those who are experimenting on them. Experimenting on animals is a huge waste of time and money. There are other options of testing new products or drugs such as Vitro tests. Researchers should not use animals to test new treatments or for any cosmetic reason. One of the concerns with testing on animals is how much money is spent on these experiments. Testing on animals can be very expensive and time consuming. The …show more content…
In the article, “The cost of doing this for the 30,000 unregistered chemicals so that they comply with REACH has been estimated at between €5 billion (US$6 billion) and €10 billion” (Abbott 144). Even knowing there are cheaper alternatives, scientists still choose to continue on with animal testing. Scientists should make better choices in bettering research and the animal usage. So many animals are being used that there is, “An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the United States for scientific and commercial testing” (animal-testing.procon.org). This is an enormous amount of animals being used just for testing. This is truly a waste of the lives of animals and we should be worried about what the future holds. Humane Society International compared a variety of animal tests with their in vitro counterparts. Another example was, “An "unscheduled DNA synthesis" animal test costs $32,000, while the in vitro alternative costs
