Close to 25 million people across the United states have been diagnosed with asthma, a life threatening illness if left untreated. Humans can thank a wide variety of animals for helping to develop the life saving pharmaceutical drugs that allow people to lead a normal life with asthma. Many medical advances have come from experimenting on animals. Humans need a 100% guarantee that the new drug will be safe for human use before it is released, scientists then turn to animals for help. Almost all new and improved forms of medical technology has to go through many test in order to insure that they are safe for humans to use. Everyday humans experiment new medical theories on animals to try and change the world. Although we cannot stop our testing on animals, we can make it better for the animals. Stephen R. Latham stated, “Even proponents of medical research on animals can see obvious ways in which the regulatory structure could be changed to benefit animals”. We should make it safer for the animals and care for them in a better way. They still are a living life form and should be treated like their life matters to. There are close to 26 million animals worldwide that our tested on each year to develop new and improved medical advancements (). It would be arduous for humans to adapt if animal testing was banned worldwide. Research laboratories would not make much progress and our medical advancement would be put on hold until we could find an alternative organism to test on. Animals have helped cancer researchers over the past 40 years in a very substantial way (Americans for Medical Progress). There are millions of people across the world that are diagnosed with cancer. Many experiments with animals and helped to increase the life expectancy of cancer patients.
