Human Medical Testing on Animals: A Real Cruelty Problem Many people of the modern day take pills and medication that are proven to work that cure everything from colds to eye problems; however, many people neglect and overlook the process of verification of the drug. Any drug that is meant for the consumption of humans, are first thoroughly examined and tested on a wide span of animals ranging from rats to monkeys. The sad truth is, the animals that are put through this process are usually treated both poorly and eventually die. On average, according to an article titled Speaking of Research: US Statistics, around 26 million animals are used per year for the advancement of human medical technology. The millions of animals that are both tested on and murdered due to medical testing is already a cruelty in itself. Many animals that are put through these inhuman tests, live in the worst and harshest conditions. According to the Humane Society International, the animals are subjected to force feeding, food and water deprivation, long periods of physical restraint, inflicted with burns and wounds and killed by suffocation, decapitation, and neck-breaking. These conditions aren’t and shouldn’t be used on any living creature. To put this in scope, the epidemic of these conditions mirror the horrors that the Jews were put through during the Holocaust, if not worse. Another indication of the mass cruelty inflicted on animals is shown when the animals are experimented on. Through the pain and suffering during the testing themselves, animals are given neither any form of relief or type of anesthetics.
