From the discovery of the first medical drug to the most advanced medical technology known to man, animal testing continues to be used by scientists to discover the harms these kinds of medicine can bring to humankind. With animal testing, scientists are able to determine and analyze the side effects and causes of medicine. Primarily, the purpose of animal testing is to examine for complications that medications may have. However, exploiting these animals is not always the best strategy. Animal testing is unethical because the experiments don’t guarantee the most accurate results, and it harms the value of life. Experiments done on animals puts their lives at risk for results that don’t give specific answers to scientists’ questions. According …show more content…
A philosophy professor, Lori Gruen, examines an experiment that kills monkeys in order to take their brain. This experiment was used to help traumatized children. However, while viewing the horrors and misery the monkeys are put through, she gives a statement that contradicts of what’s expected. Gruen states, “research that involves creating monkeys’ [anxiety] and intentionally damaging their psychological well-being will not help these children, and it will use valuable resources that actually could go a long way toward helping people who suffer from anxiety live better lives.” In other words, experiments that result in damaging the animal’s psychological health will not aid the targeted people for the experiment because the aroma the animal can give can mirror what they’re emotionally feeling. Thus, if the animal is feeling suffer and pain, the atmosphere will feel agony and despair. Gruen also states that animal testing regulates the Animal Welfare Act, which requires that the psychological well-being of primates be promoted and not intentionally destroyed. Similar to humans, animals also have principles in life. Animal testing restrains the lives the animals should be living. Instead of migrating and questing for food, they are kept isolated from other kinds of their species and having unknown chemicals injected into
